A few months ago, we launched Monzo Plus, letting you get even more out of your Monzo account. We launched with features like travel insurance and travel money, which you could add to your account to suit you.
As usual, we launched early to learn directly from you about how you’d like to use it. Since then, we’ve been running user testing and feedback sessions continuously. One bit of feedback stood out: Monzo Plus needed to be simpler. We also heard that you’d like to add new things to Monzo Plus after you’d signed up. So, we set about making that happen.
Introducing the bundles!
The first versions of Plus were made up of the Core features, plus any individual Custom features you wanted, like travel insurance or travel money. You told us that you liked the features on offer - so we’ve made it simpler, while still giving you as much choice as possible.
As of today, you can now get Traveller, Home and Supporter bundles through Monzo Plus 🎉
🗺️ The Traveller. Peace of mind when you're abroad.
£9 a month, for 6 months minimum
Worldwide travel insurance. Get AXA family cover for medical bills up to £10m, lost valuables worth up to £1,500, winter sports and more.
Withdraw up to £400 abroad. Take out up to £400 in cash for free every 30 days while you’re away. (That’s £200 more than you can if you don’t have Monzo Plus.)
Emergency cash abroad. Lost your card or access to your money? We’ll transfer you up to £1,000 from your account in cash to collect from a Western Union branch for a 5% fee.
Offers and discounts. Get 10% off bookings on Hotels.com, money off and a free 3-month premium membership for new Jack’s Flight Club customers (worth £12). Coming in September: get money off Airportr – they’ll collect and check-in your luggage from home, and put it straight on the plane ✈️
Airport lounge access. Travel in luxury. Access over 1,100 airport lounges around the world for a flat fee of £25 per person. Coming in September 👀
🏠 The Home. Put your feet up, take a load off.
£12 a month, for 6 months minimum
You can now get Contents Insurance from Urban Jungle, through Monzo Plus. It’s insurance for all your most important stuff.
Things in your home up to the combined value of £20,000.
Things you take out and about with you like your phone, laptop and bike, up to the combined value of £2,000.
There's a £100 excess. Which means that if you make a claim, you pay for £100 of the total amount.
Offers and discounts. Get money off HelloFresh ingredients and recipes, ethically sourced Pact Coffee and your favourite lunch options from MealPal, if you're a new customer.
💪 The Supporter. Merch for Monzo fans.
£4.95 a month, for 6 months minimum
Exclusive Monzo Plus swag. We’ll send you exclusive Monzo Plus merch throughout the year, like water bottles and t-shirts.
Monthly metal card prize draws. Get the chance to win one of the first Monzo metal cards, with monthly competitions starting in September.
Custom Monzo.me username. Personalise the link you share with friends to send and request money.
Offers and discounts. Get 15% off a monthly Tidal music streaming subscription, £36 credit as a new Zipcar customer and 10% off every Cornerstone toiletries order. Coming in September: track how healthy you are with £30 off your first Thriva home blood test subscription over £59.
And with any of these bundles, you’ll get an exclusive Monzo Plus card, in a choice of 3 colours: classic Hot Coral, Lagoon Blue or Midnight Sky.
You can get all three bundles, or just one or two – whatever suits you. If you like, you can start with one, and add others whenever you like.
We haven't added earning interest to our new bundles
We haven't added earning 1.5% interest (AER)* on your money to the 3 new bundles because it wasn't attracting new customers.
And since it's expensive for us to offer, we've decided not to include it in The Traveller, Home or Supporter. If it's something you're really interested in, let us know! We're planning to test it with new customers again soon.
*AER is short for the Annual Equivalent Rate. It shows you what the rate would be yearly with compound interest – which is when you earn interest on top of interest.
We've reduced the minimum term to 6 months
The minimum term has gone down to 6 months for new customers - so if you choose to switch to a new bundle, you’ll move to a 6-month minimum term starting from the day you switch.
I’ve already signed up to Monzo Plus. How does this affect me?
We’ll email you soon with more details, but essentially you have two options.
If you’d like to stay on your current plan until the end of your minimum term, you don’t need to do anything. Nothing will change – you’ll still get interest on your balance, as you do now.
If you’d like to switch to a new bundle, you won’t be out of pocket – you'll get access to new features, at the same or a discounted price as new customers.
